A Magazine for Me?

I decided to check out a free issue of a new magazine for moms. It advertises itself as the magazine for the woman and the mom. I finally got my free issue, and they have children's clothes and women's clothes articles. The women's clothes are for date night, most of the shirts are over $150 each! The children's clothes are outrageously expensive, too, except for an ON item thrown in once a page and some Chuck Taylors. I realize the articles (should they really be called pictorials?) are to give ideas not necessarily for readers to run out and buy the exact items, but if this is a magazine for moms or an average woman, do they really think I am going to spend anywhere near that much money for one item of clothing?!? I know I am on the very frugal side, but I think most people would find these prices ridiculous as well as unaffordable. I need to see what you can get from Target, folks! Bring on the Mossimo!

Thought about you last night. C and I were getting ready for bed when he went over to the bookshelf to ponder his next read. He ended up in the Coelho selection (hah! I say this like we have a library or something!)and asked my opinion for which he should try next. I recommended one and remembered that I wanted to mention a few others to you that I felt were more like The Alchemist that you might be more interested in than The Witch. So, here goes (in order of my own personal preference): Veronika Decides to Die, By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept, The Devil and Miss Prym, The Fifth Mountain and Eleven Minutes. I will add a warning to Eleven Minutes. It's a little racy. Ok, quite a bit racy (not Romance section racy, but there are a couple intimate scenes). That's not my style at all, but I was on a kick right after C got me the books so I read through as much as I could before getting burned out. C is actually reading it now. I enjoyed it and he's enjoying it so far as well.

The magazine is Cookie. I hope I'm not going to get in trouble for libel or something...
